Sarah Ford

Sarah has completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Griffith University as well as a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at the University of Queensland where she received the University Medal for academic excellence.
Sarah has worked across the lifespan at private practice, university outpatient and public health settings with a range of presentations including anxiety and mood disorders, relationship and family difficulties and adjustment issues, amongst others. Her role in public health was focused on supporting parents of children with neurodevelopmental disorders and emotion dysregulation. Sarah has a clinical interest in anxiety disorders, attachment, family relationship dynamics and emotion dysregulation in both children and adults. Sarah draws on evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, amongst others.
Sarah has a style that is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. She values the working alliance she builds with her clients. She tailors her approach to the individual and their preferences and practices from a strengths-based perspective. Sarah walks alongside clients as they navigate difficult emotions, seek self-understanding and move towards a life aligned with their values.
Sarah has previously co-authored a published research article on the remission rate for untreated Major Depressive Disorder and for her master’s research project has investigated the role of the parent-child dynamic in influencing emotion dysregulation amongst children with ADHD.
In Sarah’s free time, she enjoys exercise, catching up on her favourite TV shows as well as spending time with family, friends and her two cats.
