
Angie Alderson
BPsych(Hons)
Angie is a Provisional Psychologist holding a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from Griffith University and is currently pursuing her Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland.
Angie has partnered with clients across the lifespan, providing community and school-based psychological services for the assessment and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, relationship and family difficulties, emotional dysregulation, trauma, stress and more. Angie has a clinical interest in anxiety and depressive disorders, and in the assessment and support of children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders, and their families.
Angie is an empathic listener and strives for a warm and collaborative approach, and to gain a comprehensive understanding of individual strengths and challenges to inform supports and recommendations for clients. She prioritises the needs of her clients, and endeavours to help them build confidence in skills that will assist them to live flourishing lives. Angie draws on evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Angie has a background in mental health support, including crisis support, youth mentoring, and disability support. Angie has previously co-authored a published research article on the impact of elements of the therapeutic relationship on therapy conducted via teleconferencing. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, supporting her young daughters in their sports and dance interests, and spending time at the beach.
