Eating Disorders
Having an enthusiasm for food, fitness and nutrition that started as an adolescent athlete, Petrina completed her Nutrition and Dietetics training at Queensland University of Technology after first studying sports and exercise science. Petrina has 15 years of experience as a Dietitian/Nutritionist including a background in Private Practice and Aged Care, Health Coaching, and Public Health/Preventative Health (working on group, community and population based health promotion campaigns and projects for both government and university departments).
From this, Petrina brings extensive experience delivering evidence-based behaviour-change counselling using Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Petrina is also trained in the Non-Diet Approach. As a passionate advocate for the size diversity and acceptance movement, and the Health At Every Size® paradigm, she does not provide weight loss services. Petrina is invested in Mental Health in a wider community context and is a volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporter for Lifeline.
Petrina has a passion for helping her patients achieve improved health outcomes at the same time as restoring a healthy relationship with food, eating, movement and body. Petrina is particularly passionate about helping those stuck in the ‘diet cycle’, working from a size-acceptance perspective. Through her work in private practice, Petrina values developing collaborative ongoing relationships with her patients utilising a client-centered approach that emphasizes sustainable self-care.
